Cultivating optimism in everyday life thanks to sophrology

According to a recent study, the human brain would prefer positive probabilities to negative ones. A natural tendency to optimism that can be boosted thanks to sophrology.

If you are asked how do you imagine your health in 5 years, you will answer that it will be doing quite well. This is in part what Inserm researchers have asked to measure the degree of optimism in humans. And their conclusion is quite encouraging: we would naturally be inclined to project the future in a positive way.

But admit it, some days this optimism deserves a little boost, right? For this, there’s nothing like sophrology.

Sophrology to develop positive thinking

Sophrology is very effective in training the mind to turn to the positive. According to sophrologist Catherine Aliotta, it would even be possible to take advantage of all the situations of the day. Because the method requires techniques that are easy to use on a daily basis such as self-suggestion or positive visualizations.

In practice, how does it work?

From the morning when you stretch out in your bed. Take advantage of these few inspirations to imagine filling yourself with vitality and, little by little, set the body in motion. Then, in a seated position, keep your eyes closed for a few minutes to visualize all the good things that this day has in store for you.

During the passage in front of the mirror, leave the self-criticism aside for once. Put a light smile on your face and choose how you want to live this day: “I want to listen”, “strong”, “effective”, “assertive”. Then try to see in your reflection this attitude taking shape.

If during your day you are experiencing difficulties or pressure, take the time to isolate yourself and to feel what is going on inside you; After taking a deep breath, place your arms horizontally, palms facing you, and imagine bringing a big dose of calm or confidence to your chest. Blow as if to diffuse it in you by relaxing your arms. Do not hesitate to repeat the exercise to increase the positive effects.

In the evening, back in your bed, relive the moments that made this day unique and pleasant. Perceive what they made you feel. And let all of that positive take hold in your body.

In addition to doing good to your mind, seeing life on the bright side would prevent the occurrence of certain diseases such as cancer, heart or lung conditions. This time, you will no longer find an excuse to see the glass half empty!
